Are you a freelance translator in the market for a little CPD?
Here’s a run-down of some of the courses I’ve personally taken in the past, and some software I use, and can recommend wholeheartedly.
Some of the links are affiliate links. If you end up booking through them, it won’t cost you a penny extra (there’s even a discount in there) but it’d be a real boost for me.
I’ll add to this list as and when I experience something new I think you’d love.
Courses:
☀️ Translastars
Dozens of courses in multiple languages about all kinds of translation and localisation topics.
I took an in-depth subtitling course with them in 2022. The same (it seems) course is now available directly through OOONA.

Want some professional help with your freelance website, or your branding?
I’ve been working with WFT as a copywriter for years now, and have seen them produce beautiful site after beautiful site.
Mention my name when you book and you’ll get a nice 5% off your service or package.
The Freelancer Marketing School has three solid courses, out of which I can personally recommend LinkedIn for Humans and Grow Your Own Newsletter.
LI for Humans gave me my headstart on the platform in early 2022 and I can’t even begin to explain what a difference that’s made to my business ever since.
☀️ Recipe for SEO Success – Kate Toon
I took this super detailed SEO course way back in 2019 and have revisited it multiple times ever since. It’s a big investment but there’s so, so much information in there, so if you’re serious about getting your head around SEO, it could be perfect. Start with her free course to get a feel for it.
☀️ Self-Marketing Magic – Business coaching with Georgie Darling

Software:
☀️ LSP.Expert
New project and client management software tailored to linguists are being created all the time, but I’ve been using LSP.expert for four years now and I couldn’t run my business without it.
It’s super easy to manage your projects and invoices, track your time and keep track of your finances.
Try out their 30-day trial and keep an eye out for their semi-regular special offers to get your first year at a discount.
That’s all for now, gang.
